3 Quick Useful Tips on Wearing Velvet with Leather
We all know that mixing leather with velvet looks best when we are talking furniture, which usually tends to add a nice touch of luxury to your home decor, but does it do the same with your outfits? I think so!
Here are 3 quick tips on styling these two together:
1.) Leather is a cold and tough material, matched with the smooth velvet, it can really create magic! When putting an outfit together, choose which piece from your outfit you’d like to stand out. If it’s a velvet dress or a top, try having leather be the accent and vice versa. This way you are balancing out the softness and hardness of the two fabrics.
2.) Both velvet and leather can look heavy when put together, so be careful to not over-do it with matching alike shades and colors. Try pairing two totally different colors so that your outfit doesn’t look too tough and hefty. Like a nice white leather belt over black velvet can look really beautiful in contrast!
3.) Don’t over think it, just try out a couple different looks and see what works for your figure. When layering, think about the thickness of the materials - velvet is soft and luxurious while leather can be tough and shiny - learn how to balance these out.
With both, velvet and leather trending, it’s not hard to find different pieces and try combining them together, and when it’s done right, it can look really cool!
