How to Pull Off Spring's Hottest Trend: the Corset Belt

My favorite trend this spring is the corset belt! This body-slimming accessory is a perfect way to show your feminine side. In the olden times, corsets were worn underneath gowns, but today, fashion loves to twist things and do everything differently. This innerwear-as-outerwear trend will draw attention to your waist so knowing how to control your body proportions by wearing it over the right clothing will help you feel more comfortable in it.

There are all kinds of different belts outs there which should be styled differently, but what I would suggest is to look at it as an accessory instead of a single piece of clothing. I don’t like to wear a waist cincher over a simple t-shirt because the bottom hem will stick out and look a little awkward, but I love to wear one over a long shirt or a tunic as it will act as more of an accent of the outfit instead of being the main and only focus. If you have a short waist, consider a thinner waist belt and black of course will make you look the slimmest. Try contrasting with fabrics – like leather over cotton or the other way around. Don’t clench it too tight when wearing it over an oversized jacket or a dress/shirt with thick-material or it will look strained and uncomfortable.

Lighter-colored waist belts look best on white or neutral colors like nude and blush. White looks amazing over denim and is perfect for spring! Darker-colored corset belts add most definition to your look, so they are best for a night-out outfit. In all, this is a beautiful layering piece which can really accessorize any outfit and make it more classy, sexy and feminine!
