Retro Windbreaker Jacket
Through my journey of blogging so far, I’ve been through pretty much anything you can think of with my sister/partner in crime/photographer, Taty - the rain, hail, darkness, freezing temperatures, creepers bothering us, camera equipment breaking, so this wind is nothing new & I apologize for the crazy hair! 😊
It’s kind of ironic I chose to wear this “windbreaker” jacket or a windcheater as they call it, because it really doesn’t do much to keep you warm from the wind chill.. but it’s still super cute! Windbreakers were first designed (back in days) using animal skin (mainly seals) but gradually, through time and developments of newer methods of insulation and waterproofing, artificial textiles replaced animal skin and became more popular, especially in winter sports.
This jacket is a lot more modern and like many others you’ll find today, is made out of nylon/polyester and cotton combinations. The reason why this jacket was so popular in the 70s, is due to the rise of sportswear at the time! Fans that would go out to fields and stadiums wanted to look good as well as be protected from the cold weather.
Today, sportswear is still huge, especially in the hip hop culture and I love seeing vintage windbreaker jackets like this one styled with more modern clothing pieces.
